Student Opportunity: Part Time Project Members Required

Would you like

  • to be part of a high value/dynamic team of senior professionals?
  • 1 to 1 mentoring and opportunities to network with well-established individuals/organisations?
  • real, practical support with dissertation/research subjects which are relevant to Wellbeing or People Management topics?
  • a fantastic `real-life` experience which will enhance any CV and future job prospects?
  • to help us improve Wellbeing and People Management issues in the work-place?
  • possible opportunities for paid employment in the future?

We believe that improved Wellbeing at work will reduce the number of working days lost through issues such as stress, absenteeism and injuries. Currently over 200 million days are lost per year in the UK, costing the economy over £100 billion – we feel there must be a better way. We are a new not for profit Foundation (charitable status pending) that aims to help as many people as possible in society be fit for, attend and perform when at their work. We believe that there is not enough effective information or support for employers, managers and/or individuals who are suffering with Wellbeing/People Management issues or not realising their full potential.

With the current economic challenges, increasing unemployment, rising claims and increasing conflict in work-places it has never been more important to create a society which is of benefit to as many as possible. Most people know at least one person or organisation who has suffered with such issues - stress, absenteeism and poor attitudes have negative impacts in society on people, families, profits, relationships, productivity, reputations and performance. The Foundation believes that having as many well-meaning and successful employers as possible who know and understand the real value and benefits arising from managing people properly would benefit society, companies, individuals and the economy as a whole.

One of our core aims is to bring together the best people and practices from areas such as Health & Safety, People Management/HR and Occupational Health in order to create effective solutions. Part of our strategy is to engage with students from relevant subject areas who may be interested in undertaking research or participating/leading a particular project relevant to Wellbeing or People Management. Hence the Foundation would welcome expressions of interest from students with an interest in the above and in particular from the following subject areas:

Human resourcesHealth/Nursing/WellbeingMarketing
PsychologyInformation Technology/ComputingMedia
LawBusiness ManagementSociology

While all positions are unpaid reasonable expenses will be covered subject to agreement in advance. A part-time commitment of between one to four days per month is expected – depending on the research/subject/project chosen. The Foundation would always seek to be as flexible as possible to fit around existing family, study and/or work requirements. It is possible that such work could form part of a programme of study (e.g. an honours project/dissertation) and we would encourage students to suggest their own research/dissertation subjects or areas.

All expressions of interest should be e mailed to Tim Musson at; tim.musson@twwf.org.uk BEFORE 30th September 2011 including an up to date CV or profile along with an outline of current studies, future plans and why the above may be of interest. We will discuss suitable projects with successful applicants as and when they contact us. Places are limited and our resources will be allocated on a first come basis so we suggest any interested parties do not delay getting in touch. Thank you for your interest here.
